Welcome to the Cao Lab in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Washington. We specialize in the cutting-edge fields of mucosal immunoengineering and microbiome pharmaceutics. Our mission is to integrate the principles of drug delivery and immunology to design innovative therapeutic strategies for a broad range of diseases, including infectious, allergic, inflammatory, and autoimmune conditions.

July 2024 - Lindsey gives a poster presentation at GPEN conference in Copenhagen! And she won the 3rd place Poster Prize!
June 2024 - Shijie's paper on injectable butyrate micelles for inducing long-acting immune modulation and preventing autoimmune arthritis is now online at Journal of Controlled Release.
June 2024 - Welcome Vincent Chan (Nelson-Mendenhall Summer Scholar) from Seattle University to do summer research in our lab.
May 2024 - The Cao Lab received a Seed Grant from the Northwest Nanotechnology Infrastructure (NNI).
April 2024 - Shijie's paper on a serine conjugated butyrate prodrug with enhanced oral bioavailability is now online at Nature Biomedical Engineering.
